New Business: Ruicci Cup Tournament Joanne Lukasik informed the group the league was going to be proactive in putting together the tournament this year; she would like to see a team volunteer next Aug. to get a head start. This year's tournament will be March 12-14 at Eddie Edgar Arena and hosted by the Stingrays; the cost is estimated to remain the same ($100 up front, $350 later on) Terry Mathews and Amy Martin are going to put together a guidebook for hosting the Ruicci Cup Tournament. Bylaws/Rules & Regulations Terry Mathews advised the league the Bylaws and Rules section is being updated on the web site, and should be complete in the next 3 weeks. There will be new sections for the Ruicci Cup guidebook and State Finals/Nationals. Terry encouraged all players, managers, and coaches to review the Bylaws and Rules. MAHA/USA Hockey Updates Carrie Sirola explained there is a new MAHA rule regarding play on Senior leagues; now a team will be able to pick up players from other MSHL teams to play in tournaments w/o the player's release from their current team. Senior Women's Nationals will add a Senior C classification this year with the skill level falling below Senior B. To make Senior C recreational, players may not be current or past Olympic players AND must be out of college 15 years to be eligible for Nationals. Letters of intent will come from Bob Steele to every team in the league about their eligibility for Nationals (March 24-28). There is no entry fee for Nationals but there would be if a State tournament was needed to decide who would play at Nationals. Stats spreadsheet and instructions/Score sheets Terry Mathews has the score sheets and will distribute them through the Directors and/or at the Sept. meeting. Carrie Sirola made "cheat sheets" for Division Statisticians and will pass them out tonight. District 4 Registrations Myra Zolynski is the Dist. 4 Rep. but was unable to attend. Joanne Lukasik will assist in handing out the forms to teams that register under District 4. Division Structure Joanne Lukasik distributed the team list and explained the decision to divide the Senior Intermediate Division in half due to the number of teams. The Board at the end of the first half will review division placement of teams. The league will schedule no cross-divisional play; individual teams can schedule scrimmages if they wish. Concern was expressed about the difficulty of reaching teams in the case of a game cancellation. It was recommended that a team have more than one contact. Ann Dobija pointed out that the contact information (except email) is not listed on the web site due to privacy issues. Joanne Lukasik asked every team to have a manager/rep. give the Secretary their contact info during the breakout for scheduling. Joanne Lukasik informed the group about the American Amputee Hockey Association Showcase at the Ice Cube October 9-12. Division Schedules Teams were asked to select a Division Director, Statistician, and Scheduler for each division. It is suggested the Director role be combined with the Statistician for ease of information transfer. Teams must be registered and rostered with USA Hockey before their first game is played. Games should not start before October. Do not schedule games past December! Next meeting is September 15, 2003 in Eddie Edgar Arena at 7:30pm. Meeting adjourned by Amy Martin and seconded by Derek Fuciarelli.
